Books, books, & more books

Will I ever say enough is enough with buying books already?! Sheesh! In the meantime, here are 2 on my radar:
Beyond Trend, How to Innovate in an Over-Designed World by Matt Mattus and In-House Design In Practice by Cathy Fishel

Sex and Typography?!

Interesting combination! My interest has most definitely been picqued, only not by the title so much as the subject matter. The book, "Sex and Typography" is about the life and times of the creator of the James Bond title sequences, one of the early 'rockstar' designers, Robert Brownjohn.

Print & Finish

Just picked up this book, "Print and Finish" by Gavin Ambrose & Paul Harris and am really enjoying it! At work we have been meeting with print shops in order to see what's available to us locally, so I thought I had better brush up on some of my print knowledge. At my old job, they wouldn't even let me do spot colors! Now it's like the world has opened up to me design-wise and I might finally have the opportunity to pump up my designs with fun things like die-cutting, varnishes, etc.

If you're interested in these things, I highly recommend picking up this book!

Joie de Vivre

All things French...or Italian, at the moment. I'm thinking it's time for an European vacation...for real! But, if I can't be there, I can at least read about it...

Joie de Vivre: Simple French Style for Everyday Living

Just call me an addict

I cannot for the life of me stop buying work related books!

Here is just one of the latest...
Inspirability: 40 Top Designers Speak Out About What Inspires (Hardcover)

I haven't read a word of it yet, but really admire its pretty green cover, which is a sort of velvet with a flourish design carved throughout exposing a glossy varnish.

I also purchased ALL ACCESS: The Making of Thirty Extraordinary Graphic Designers.

One of the things I have a love/hate relationship with, in my chosen field, is the constant quest for inspiration and learning opportunities. Reading many, many books and trade magazines is one of the ways I stay inspired, motivated and up-to-date. I have also found inspiration in photography, which can tie into my job as a designer, yet not always. And, my latest source is this very blog!
