Tonight!

Craig's old drum tech is now the drummer for Bang Tango and they are playing in Vegas tonight for the 'Vegas Rocks!' Magazines anniversary party. We'll be there! Should be an interesting evening!

Wish I had that little red Rory Becca dress for the event tonight!

Fun Photo Shoot Friday

Sunflowers 4

Work was a blast today! I was asked to bring in my camera to take some Salon shots as well as some Café (Chef) shots. It was a nice little creative reward (in my mind) for all of the hard work I've been putting in lately on all of the last minute projects I've been getting.

Along the way I also took some sunflower shots! I liked the softness and darkness of this one, for some reason.

Grand Lux Cafe

I'll be having lunch with my old coworker/friend Manuel today. Grand Lux has such good food and conversation with Manuel is always so lively and inspiring! Should be fun!

Boutique Dreams

I have a little dream of opening my own little specialty boutique. These are a few things for my mood board of decorative elements from Brocade Home. I'm really leaning towards mostly white and silver elements and letting the boutique products be the color stars.

I'm such a dreamer.....

Civilettes

I sure do wish people were kinder to one another. These adorable little cards are a great start! I found them over at one of my favorite 'daily' blogs, Oh Happy Day. The cards are by Greer Chicago.

Jordan once featured a portrait her talented husband created of her called 'On The Way To Paris', that I so badly wanted a print of. Isn't it beautiful?

Coffee Table

My mom discovered this woman who sells showroom furniture from the World Market Center, who is looking to get rid of a few items. She had lots of artwork and large scale mirrors. But, she also had a cool coffee table. I am seriously thinking of getting it. It is a brand new lift-top table (with wheels too), which I think is pretty cool. I love the detailing on it! She's selling it for $150. It would usually go for about $600.

**update**
I bought it!!!

Mood Music

The best gift ever has been my iPod that Craig gave me. It gets me through the grind at work on a regular basis. Today I am listening to Interpol's latest, Our Love to Admire. My favorite songs are Rest My Chemistry, The Heinrich Maneuver and Pioneer to the Falls.

It's Friday!!!

Yes! Yes! Yes! I don't have any specific plans yet other than spending time with my family, but I am really looking forward to just relaxing after such a hectic, rushed week!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Zany InHouse Graphic Designers

Some good morale suggestions for inhouse design teams over at the InHOWse forums...

Ali:
"After years of trying to lift the morale of my team by trying to change the way the rest of the company treated us, I came to a small, but incredibly useful epiphany... if it is your team's morale that you want to lift, then focus on the little, simple things that you can do for your team. In an ideal world, we could educate the rest of the company and bring them around to see the full value that a creative team can bring. I strongly believe in positioning an in-house design team as a strategic partner to the company and everyday we get there with baby steps. But where I focus the majority of my energy is making a difference in my team's day to day work lives where I can. I swear, the simpliest, silliest things can make a difference. MUSIC is the easiest way to start picking up the vibe. If you can't listen communally as a team, network your iTunes. We actually have Friday night DANCE PARTIES each week. Religiously at 4pm each Friday, the headphones come off and the speaker gets turned up and we groove while we design. We rotate who DJs each week. FOOD is another amazing way to lift spirits. I'm not talking "let's do lunch", but more along the lines of keeping a stash of fun snacks around. LAUGHTER definitely is the best medicine and don't underestimate the power of toys at work. Get your TEAM involved and brainstorm with them about little things you can do each week that give you all something to look forward to. I know a lot of this can sound frivolous, but they have made a big difference in our worklife. Nothing to lose in trying."

Surprise and Delights

I ran across a new (to me) blog this morning that I am really liking. It's Surprise and Delights by Joanna Goddard. All 3 of her blogs are good.

I found some incredible posters through Joanna's blog. I am getting a new office when my company expands and I think one of these might be nice in it, framed, of course...

Keep Calm Poster

‘Keep calm and carry on’, a message fly-posted around Britain during World War Two. They also sell postcard sized prints...might be cool to frame one of those! Purchase one here.

Interesting Ring

Untitled 3 from Like Wearing a Love Letter series by ColleenBaran at Etsy.

I love her statement...
"I wanted to make rings that were like love letters. Fluttery petals of cloudy white plastic with black text create the story of love. They are like wearing a daydream or a memory."

I can't imagine myself wearing this ring, but I find it inspiring, nonetheless.
